Life can get pretty crazy sometimes. Something that is said over and over to us is the phrase "God is with you". And it's true! God is always present and available to us if we call on His name. He is the God With Us, and that can be so comforting to us in a time of trial, frustration or devastation.
But what if it's not about the here and now? What if we are more focused on what comes next? The future can be so daunting when it is filled with unknowns. Fear has the capability to grip us, paralyzing our minds and bodies over the fact that we can't see what is coming our way. These moments are the moments we need to remember that the God that brought us to the present day, and the God that is with us now is a God that exists outside of our world's time constraints - He already exists in the future! The Holy Spirit was made available to us through Christ's death. The Spirit interacts with us daily, and I believe that if we are looking, we may just see Him resting one step ahead of us. There is little to fear when we are in the arms of the God who created and loves us. He is continually one step ahead! - Kallie

That’s right!
God truly IS the one building The Nest, and this will be a safe place for women to grow. From the beginning, this house has not been our own, as it was donated for this specific cause through the prompting of the Holy Spirit. After the house was donated, people came from all different locations and connections to help with the physicality of the home (painting, repairing, replacing), administration and promotion. This home is not our own, but God’s safe haven that He is building for His daughters in need. As a mother bird gathers her resources from scattered places and carefully picks out each individual piece, God has picked each specific person and resource for The Nest. We are getting so close to having a completed home! We are only in need of a few more things, so be looking for my next post with our wish list and how you can get involved. Blessings to you, Kallie We are featuring Kallie in April’s Nest Report because we are so excited to have her as our Resident Assistant. She will be living and working as part of the community here at The Nest. Kallie moved in to the house during the beginning of April, and has been a big part of this month’s happenings. When we begin having residents, Kallie will support the women and help them in any way they need, like taking them to doctor appointments or job interviews, as well as helping to plan meals and work with Administrative tasks. Having Kallie living at the Nest is so helpful. She is always ready and willing to help us with whatever needs to be done as we continue to prepare for residents. Luke and I have been working here together for a while now, and though we are family it is so nice to have Kallie join us. It is as if our “Nest team” has finally come together give back to one another and to feel like we are moving forward together with a vision for this place. When asked how to describe herself, Kallie said she thinks she is “spirited, friendly, and creative.” Kallie really enjoys creative expressions, like writing, painting and creating things to express who God is and what He has done for her. She grew up in rural Charles City, Iowa on a 14 acre hobby farm. She grew up with her parents, Matt and Tricia, and her older sister Kelsey, and younger brother Connor. Her family has always been important to her, but in recent years, her family has been transformed in faith: Five years ago I would have said I had a typical family— what is a typical family, anyway? But, God has been doing an amazing work through my family in the recent years. Through my involvement with Youth With A Mission, my mom, who is a nurse, got in contact with an organization that operates down in Haiti. I had never known this, but my mom said she had always wanted to do medical missions. Sparing the details, now my mom and dad are fully involved in personal relationships they have built with the Haitian people, bringing agriculture to a family in need, participating in community development and also assisting to build a medical clinic in the Central Plateau of Haiti. She speaks very highly of her family and is glad for a family that loves and supports in the way her family does. And in the past few years, she says she is especially thankful for “a loving father who not only looks out for my physical needs but also cares for me emotionally.”
Her biggest role model is her mother, Tricia, who Kallie says taught her that everyone has value. “From the infant to the elderly, my mom has shown me how to love and how to persevere. She has given me a standard for fighting for what I believe is right and true and encourages me to chase after my dreams.” Before coming to the Nest, Kallie has been staff at YWAM Minneapolis. Since 2011 she has been serving in multiple areas around the campus, co-leading Mission Adventures and participating in Training School Staff as well as assisting in practical areas like child care, kitchen and answering phones. One of her favorite things about YWAM, she says is “even though we all come from different backgrounds, countries, and families we have all been called by the same God and can serve Him together as one body.” Her transition to working with the Nest is a big change, but one, she says, God has been preparing her for the past few years. Kallie is passionate about the Kingdom of God: “I am very passionate about seeing the light of Christ come into dark places. I desire to be a part of healing broken places in people’s lives and setting the captives free. I want my life to be available for God to use in any way He desires and I feel that he has given me a particular passion for helping young women discover more of who God is and who He has created them to be.” Her favorite Bible Verse is: Ephesians 3:17b-21: “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” She loves this passage because it reminds her of how big God’s love is for us. She says, “we will never know the fullness of God, but every day we are given an opportunity to grasp a bit more of who He is; the width, length, height and depth of His love.” She believe that knowledge is important, and she loves that this passage from Ephesians reminds us that Christ’s love surpasses knowledge and that we must first seek Him. She is ready to jump into working with women and helping with young children as well. Her favorite tv show was Pappyland, and she has said she wouldn’t mind watching it again as she jumps into helping young mothers. Kallie Spading is a woman of many talents and interests, and we are so excited about starting this new season with her as a part of The Nest ministry.
